Yeti Imperial Stout is a highly rated beer brewed by the Great Divide Brewing Company. Yeti has a score of 100 on RateBeer and has won numerous awards. According to the brewer, Yeti “starts with a big, roasty malt flavor that gives way to rich caramel and toffee notes.”
Everything I heard about this beer was extremely positive though I was a little skeptical with all the hype that it might not be able to live up to it. I’m glad to report that was not the case, Yeti was wonderful! It starts off with a chocolate toffee aroma and then has an incredibly smooth flavor of toffee, caramel, and maybe I’m crazy but I thought I could taste some chocolate and espresso notes as well.
The food we paired with it was vanilla ice cream. Ice cream, of course, is always great!
The big question is: how was the beer with the food? The answer is: good. I was really happy with just the beer and the ice cream and would have been satisfied with no flavor changes but I got a bonus! The ice cream added a nice creaminess to the Yeti. The beer really didn’t need any improving but the additional creaminess was really a nice touch.
